Anna was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on December 21, 1933. She was the middle of three children. The family relocated to Michigan during her youth. Anna attended Detroit Western High School where she was involved in several activities, including the Editor of the yearbook and school newspaper. Anna graduated from Western High in 1951.
On November 15, 1952 Anna married her husband the late Edward Patino. They were married for 68 incredible years and were blessed with three children. The family moved to Westland in 1958, where Anna lived for the remainder of her life. After working briefly for National Bank of Detroit, Anna began a career with Wayne-Westland Community Schools. She worked as the Librarian at Tinkham Elementary School and was the head secretary at John Marshall Junior High. Anna served countless students during her tenure before retiring in 1990.
She was the beloved mother of Edward (Joyce) Patino, Barbara Kennedy and Debra (Dan) Rowley. Loving “Granny” of Donald (Ellen) McClung, Teresa (Charles) Spiess, Edward Patino III and Barbara (Justin) Sharkey. Great Granny of Erin (Jacob) Koehl, Conner McClung, Jessica Spiess, Shelby Spiess, Hunter Brown, Gavin Sharkey, Dylan Merer and Harris Merer. She was “Granny” to countless nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. Cherished “Auntie Ann” of Pamela Mouro-Simpson.
Anna was proceeded in death by her husband Edward, her parents, brother Jay Wallis and sister Barbara Mouro.
Family was very important to Anna. Weekends, especially Sunday afternoons, Granny and Pop’s house was the gathering place. She would often tell me that her dream was to have everyone living under her roof. Holidays, birthdays, you name it, she wanted to be involved. Anna simply loved being a wife, mother, Granny and great Granny. She will be truly missed by everyone who was blessed to have her in their lives.
