Anne Louise Prieskorn, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, rumored favorite daughter-in-law, and friend, was called to her forever home by her Lord on December 1, 2025, at the age of 56. Anne passed away peacefully in her home in Wayne, Michigan after a well fought battle against cancer. The love she had for family and friends was a testament to the foundation of her life, her love for her Lord and Savior which carried her through the many challenges she faced in her battle with cancer.
Anne was the youngest of four children. She was born on August 31, 1969, to Thomas and Margaret Schaffer. She was received into the Lord’s family through holy baptism at St. John’s Lutheran Church on September 21, 1969. She attended St. John’s Lutheran School from Kindergarten to 8th grade. Upon completing catechism classes at St. John’s, she renewed her baptismal vows and was confirmed in the Lutheran faith on April 24, 1983. She graduated from Huron Valley Lutheran High School in 1987.
After graduation, Anne worked at Payless Shoe Store in Garden City, where she found a love of shoes and perhaps spent much of her paycheck buying shoes! Anne left the shoe business behind and began a career in the health care industry at American Community and then at Priority Health. Anne’s knowledge of health care grew over the years and that knowledge became a great asset to her company.
Anne married Michael Prieskorn on September 28th, 1991. God blessed Anne and Mike with four children, Megan, Evan, Nathan, and Allison. Their children also attended St. John’s Lutheran School and Huron Valley Lutheran High School like their parents. Anne continued to support both schools.
Anne loved being with family and friends. Whether it was a trip to Cedar Point, Big Star Lake, Vegas, Grand Haven, backyard cookouts, working the auction, girls’ night out, or being at women’s retreat, Anne’s fun and enthusiasm added much joy to any occasion. Anne also enjoyed everything Christmas…over the top tree lights, gifts, movies, carols, and celebrating the birth of Jesus.
Anne is survived by her husband Mike, children Megan (Chad) Morgan and granddaughter Melanie Morgan, Evan Prieskorn, Nathan Prieskorn, and Allison Prieskorn, her parents Tom and Margaret Schaffer, siblings Mike (Patty) Schaffer, Kathy (Barry) Howell, Karen (Glenn) Stockdale, and several nieces and nephews.
She will be missed by all who loved her and by all whose lives she touched, but we are thankful that her pain is gone and she has a perfect body in the presence of her Lord and Savior where she will praise her God 10,000 years and then forevermore.
Visitation will take place on Sunday, December 7th, from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Harry J. Will Funeral Home, 34567 Michigan Avenue, Wayne, Michigan 48184.
On Monday, December 8th, Anne will lie in state at 10:00 AM at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 35320 Glenwood Road, Westland, Michigan 48186, with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 AM. She will be laid to rest at Glen Eden Memorial Park in Livonia following the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hope Christian Academy and St. John’s Lutheran Church.
