Carol Rose, of Alanson Michigan, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, February 26, 2017 in Traverse City Michigan. She was 58 years of age and was born to Shirley Ann Sitko and William Kelly. As an only child Carol was raised by her mother Shirley and grandparents until the age of 8 years old when her mother met the love of her life Noel James Sitko. Carol quickly adopted Noel as her father with Carol’s full support. Noel Sitko and her mother Shirley was married December 11, 1965. Carol was honored to call her new stepfather by “Daddy.” From that day forward the word “step” was never mentioned. A year later, Carol became the proud sister of Katherine Ann Watkins. Over the years the four of them had a family bond reinforced by many family trips, dinners, outings, many happy times and some sad times as well. They overcame life’s many challenges because they had a wonderful family relation. Carol was very involved with her family. While growing up she even became a Girl Scout leader for her baby sister’s troop so that she could spend more time with her baby sister Kat.
As Carol became a beautiful young lady, she met the love of her life Russell John Rose of Alanson Michigan. She and Russell planned their wedding for July 19, 1980. However, they encountered a rough start to the beginning of their family journey when “Mother Nature” decided that there would be no power anywhere in the Metro Detroit area. Not to be deterred they ended up having a beautiful candle light ceremony that began their marital journey with its many ups and downs.
Carol and Russ started their family with their oldest daughter Peggy Lynn Furgueson, followed by son JamesJohn William Rose, then daughters Cassymarie Renee Jackson and Heather Ruth Rose. Carol was a “stay at home” wife and mother who devoted all her love, time and energy to her beloved family and friends by hosting many gathering and activities which brought them all together.
Carol loved working on genealogy, scrapbooking, coloring, and art. She had a love of music and her favorite singer was Elvis Presley.
Carol was a loving person and everyone who came across her path soon would call her Mom, Aunt, Nanny, Grandma or whatever they felt would show their endearment and closeness to her. She was also a past president of Wayland Eagles 4104 of Wayne Michigan. As her children grew up, Carol and Russ relocated back to Russ’s home town of Alanson Michigan where she continued to spread her love and compassion for her eighteen (18) grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, many adopted family members.
On February 25, 2017 she was with her daughter Peggy and son-in law Johnny to help them buy a truck. Carol told Peggy she didn't feel well and asked her to drive. Peggy knew this was out to the normal for her mother and took her to Cadillac hospital where Carol experienced cardiac arrest. The medical staff at the hospital revived and stabilized her upon which she was transported to Munson Medical Center in Traverse City Michigan. There the doctors told the family that she had arrested twice and that there was too much damage to the brain for her to survive. The family gathered to be by her side and agreed they did not want to see her this way. They prepared to take Carol off the life support and let her go home to her Lord. At 10 PM. Carol was taken off the vent and she passed away at 2:55 AM.
