Fern Lynch

Fern Catherine Prevey was born on August 20, 1917 to Clyde Frank Prevey and Josephine Marie (Kockx) Prevey in Milbank, South Dakota. She was married to the late Owen Edward Lynch on September 4, 1941 at St. Mary Church in Wayne and worked as a secretary for the Wayne County Health Department.

Fern grew up in Milbank, South Dakota and graduated from Milbank High School in 1935. Her father was an engineer for the Chicago Milwaukee Railroad and her mother was a housewife and excellent baker. Fern moved to the Detroit area in 1941 and eventually settled on Ash Street in Wayne, Michigan. Fern had many friends, loved to read, was a good seamstress and she loved to travel. She was a member of the Wayne Senior Citizen Club and enjoyed playing bridge and pinochle with her friends.

She was the loving mother to daughter Gretchen and Kenneth Urbanski of Venice, Fl. and son Thomas and Jaylee Lynch of Garden City, Michigan. She was a very special grandmother to Douglas Urbanski, Shawn and Mary Urbanski and Jason Lynch. Fern was the eldest of four children; Lucille M. Lauderdale of Las Vegas, Nevada, the late Helen Louise Giessinger of Milbank, South Dakota and the late Clyde Francis.

Fern died peacefully at the Lutheran Home in Livonia at the age of 94 1/2. She will be greatly missed.

The Funeral Mass, led by Fr. Brian Chabala, will be on Saturday, April 21st at 11 am at St. Mary Catholic Church 34530 Michigan Avenue in Wayne, Michigan 48184. She will lie in state at the church at 10:30 am.

Fern will be laid to rest with Committal Prayers next to her husband Owen in Michigan Memorial Park in Flat Rock, Michigan.
