Age 81
Howard was the loving husband of Dorothy for over 54 years. He also leaves behind his children; Alison (Fred), Andrea, Celeste (Paul), Howard Jr. (Dawn/Renae) and Krista, grandchildren; Melissa (Jim), Richard (Harmony), Toni (Shaun), Amanda (Josh), Bryan, Daniel, Howard III, Hailey, Mark, Sean, Michael (Jenny) and Leah and great grandchildren; Anthony, Brooklynn, Landen, Gavin, Navy, Logan, Michael and Maddison. Howard is also survived by his brother Fletcher. He was preceded in death by his sister Geri.
Howard was born to the late Earl and Ruth Hayward in Detroit, MI. He spent his childhood in the Detroit area. He then joined the United States Air Force. He was able to travel the world while in the service and was mainly stationed in Reno, NV. After the service, he married the love of his life Dorothy. Together they raised their family in Wayne, MI.
Howard retired from General Motors after 28 years of service. He then went on to work at National Car Rental for over 15 years. Howard enjoyed spending time with his family, going to the casino, lottery tickets, taking pictures, bird watching, dancing and shopping at the dollar store. He was known to be grumpy, sassy and stubborn but was a loving man. He always had to be right though.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Great Lakes National Cemetery or to the Yankee Air Museum.
