Jayne Nicole Fischer, age 72, passed away on January 21, 2026. Jayne was born John Jay Fischer on April 14, 1953, in Detroit, Michigan, to parents John and Marilyn Fischer. John was the eldest of three children, with younger siblings Lynn and Greg.
John met Cindy Christo while attending Wayne State University, and they later wed on December 27, 1974. He went to work for General Motors, from which he would retire decades later. Together they lived in Livonia before moving their family to Fenton, Michigan, where they raised their two children, Karen and Eric. As a family, they enjoyed camping, boating, and swimming. John enjoyed carpentry and built custom furniture and toys for his family. Every summer vacation was spent in Florida to enjoy scuba diving, exploring, and visiting family, or up north at the family lake cottage in Lewiston.
John Jay became Jayne Nicole in 1998, and after a period of adjustment, continued to enjoy her family, hobbies, and work. She earned her Master’s Degree from Devry University in Project Management, an accomplishment of which she was incredibly proud, before becoming a project manager at GM, and later Ford Motor Company. After retiring, she found joy in working as a tax preparer for H&R Block and babysitting her grandchildren.
Jayne embraced life fully and had many passions. She ran races, even running the Olympic Torch for the US Utah Olympics. A devoted Star Trek fan, she also loved music and singing with her Sweet Adeline Barbershop Quartet. Jayne enjoyed model trains and train shows, sharing that love with her grandson. Her carpentry skills brought countless smiles as she built toys, custom tree houses, garden beds, and so much more for her children and grandchildren. She was a master thrift shopper and shared the love of a good bargain with her children and grandchildren. She loved to give gifts to her loved ones to spoil them.
Jayne was preceded in death by her parents and spouse Cindy. She leaves behind children Karen (Timothy) and Eric, and grandchildren Kelsey (13) and Carter (10). Jayne will be deeply missed and remembered for her reserved but dedicated love for family and never being able to resist a good deal.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at 1:30 p.m., with gathering beginning at 12:30 p.m., at Harry J. Will Funeral Home, 34567 Michigan Ave., Wayne, Michigan.
