

Born on October 22, 1964, in Detroit, Michigan, John was the beloved son of Angus and Mary Ann MacDonald, who preceded him in death.
John earned a B.B.A. in Finance from the University of Michigan-Dearborn School of Business.
John dedicated more than 40 years of service to the Wayne/Westland Library, later known as the Wayne Public Library, where he worked as a Library Technical Assistant. Throughout his career, he built countless lasting friendships with coworkers, patrons, and members of the community. His knowledge, patience, and willingness to help made him a valued colleague and a familiar, welcoming presence to everyone who visited the library.
A lifelong technology enthusiast, John had a passion for collecting vintage record players, vinyl records, and classic technology equipment. He enjoyed exploring how things worked and appreciated both the history and craftsmanship behind older electronics. John was also a devoted University of Michigan sports fan who rarely missed the opportunity to cheer on his Wolverines.
Above all, John will be remembered for his kind heart, quiet nature, and the genuine relationships he formed throughout his life. He touched many lives through his years of service and friendship, and his memory will continue to live on in those who knew and loved him.
John is lovingly remembered by his siblings: Margaret (Douglas) Brooks, Anne MacDonald, Dan MacDonald, Tom MacDonald, Bruce (Ashley) MacDonald, and Neil MacDonald. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Angus and Mary Ann MacDonald.
Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Harry J. Will Funeral Home, 34567 Michigan Avenue, Wayne, Michigan 48184. A Memorial Service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
John's dedication, kindness, and quiet generosity will be deeply missed, but fondly remembered by his family, friends, coworkers, and the many people whose lives he enriched over the years.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in John's honor can be made to the Wayne Public Library.
