Mark, I got your message today... :) Yes, you are Free.
You are also a bit of a sarcastic dork! Probably one of my favorite things about you.
XOXO

You popped up in a random place today... You may be gone, but you are not forgotten. I am happy for the time we had.

Can't believe it's been a year already. Seems like yesterday. Miss you so much. And working with you too. We were a good team. Kevin is doing great. Loves Beany so much. We love you.

Lately each morning I find myself recalling what conversation we were having "one year ago today". I am dreading next Saturday. I still hate that we didn't get to discuss the election or the fact that Michigan beat MSU. I wonder how Kevin is...
I am glad that for you the suffering is over, but I still miss you.
Talk to you soon <3

All of us at Hometown Bicycles want to pay tribute to a true great of the cycling industry and the human race.
Mark was remarkable. Vendor and rep are irrelevant here this man was like family. Mark was our mentor a dispenser of solid and practical business advice, a trusted sounding board, and a perpetual cheerleader of the shop.
He dropped by often, and was never in a hurry when he came always finding time to hang out and help out. And he was kind honest, but always kind.
Mark has a permanent place on our VIP I Believe wall for good reason. His faith in Hometown and in us has been extraordinary.
Rest in peace, Mark. You are already missed.

I've known Mark since I was born. I grew up at Detroit Cycle, spending every summer there until I was about 13 and my mom let me stay home by myself. My best memories from there were always with Mark. He was more like an uncle to me. I mostly stayed out of everyone's way when I was there, except Mark. He always talked to me and involved me,didn't treat me like a bother. I went with him on trips to Lafayette Coney Island to pick up coneys for everyone and helped with orders when he was in the back.
He would take me on rides on his quad all the time and gave me a big teddy bear when I was 3 that I still have and cherish.
Over the years we haven't seen each other as much as we used too but I never loved him any less.
He was a good man who was jaded from a lot of heartache in his life, but he did what he could to make the best of it.
He might not have realized it but he made an impact on my life and was a big part of it and I will never forget him.

We were so saddened to hear of Mark's death. My husband Dennis and he grew up together and they were best friends during that time. His folks and Dennis' folks were best of friends as well. Mark was in our wedding. He did some crazy things when we were young but it was always fun to be around him and we loved him dearly. We will not be able to attend the services but our deepest condolences to his brother Eric and Haleigh and their families. He is in heaven riding bicycles with his parents and Jan. May he rest in peace.

Mark,
It has been an interesting 2 years. As you said, we were somewhere between friends and lovers. I will miss your nightly calls and the evenings at your house, and I will miss Kevin as he will miss you. I don't know who I am supposed to argue politics and interstate sports with from now on. ;) I don't know who I am supposed to share my academic successes with...I am really going to miss you...even your snoring. Thank you for waiting for me...you should have told me...but at least you waited...and for that I am so grateful. I love you too...you know?
