Dr. Renee Naughton Selix

February 15, 1972February 18, 2020

It is with a most profound sense of loss that I announce the passing of my beautiful and amazing wife of 24 years, Dr. Renee Naughton Selix. She was my high school sweetheart and the love of my life. Along with me, her husband, Eric Selix, she is survived by our two children, Patrick and Emma, as well as her four siblings, Erin Martin (Robert), Richard Naughton (Julie), Dr. Joseph Naughton, and Timothy Naughton (Christina).

Besides her family, her other great passions were her beloved friends, teaching and learning, and exploring our world to celebrate the joy and beauty of its places, cultures, and people.

Renee, I do now and will always miss you immensely as I continue my efforts to be the man and father you always knew I could become. With all of my love and heart, eternally yours - Eric

Our mom was without a doubt the absolute strongest person we’ve ever known. It has been unbelievably hard to be without her in just the past few days, but we have also been overcome with an overwhelming sense of pride and gratitude in knowing we had such an intelligent, caring, and driven person to play such a pivotal role in our lives. We will miss her forever, but we know that the love and devotion she instilled not only in us, but everyone around her, will live on forever in each of us. We love you Mom! Losing you hurts more than words could ever describe, but we are so happy to have had you as our first teacher. We will take the lessons you blessed us with as we move forward and make you proud. Love always, Patrick and Emma (Packy and Shem)

Dear Naughton Family, I wish you peace and comfort in your loss of your wife, sister and mother. It’s events like this the put in the perspective of the speed that time passes. It seems we were all kids a short time ago and you realize a life was lived and time has past. Let’s all reflect in Renee passing and use it to savor every day and let our memories make life that much fuller. Rick and Joe, sorry I didn’t find out about this sooner. Know my thoughts are with you all. I understand the close bond in an Irish family even though the words are rarely spoken. Dennis Spillane.

I worked with Renee as a movement class teacher at Burger West. It seems like years ago. I had the funnest year ever working with her. She was always professional and showed a great love and patience when working with our students with autism. One of our students came from outside and gave me a bunch of dandelions. She said here’s for you and give some to your sister as she pointed to Renee. When Renee became Dr. Renee staff at Burger West was teasing me, asking me if I was the nurse. Renee‘s dad came to visit her often. I remember seeing the pride in his eyes when he talked about her to me and when he talk to her. I will miss Renee very much. We kept in touch through the years and I was always glad to hear from her. Dear friend, rest in peace❤️. You will be missed.

Dr. Selix truly cared about her students. She encouraged each student to be a life long learner and a good citizen. She will be greatly missed.

I am so sad to hear of the passing of Renee. I worked with her briefly at Douglas elementary, I always admired her integrity working with all students. I also worked with Renee at Farmington elementary at the beginning of her career. We shared a funny moment when the Japanese language teacher was teaching us our birthdate and how to say it. She taught me to say mine and then Renee kept repeating my birthdate in Japanese, the Japanese instructor tried to correct her but Renee just smiled and kept saying my birthday. She finally laughed and said her birthday was the same as my birthday. I love her sense of humor. I feel lucky to know her, she’ll be missed.

I had the opportunity to work with Renee a few times during my tenure at Garden City Schools. She was nice, a good listener, compassionate and had a great sense of humor. Her students were fortunate to have her, and Garden City has lost a memory maker teacher. My sincerest sympathies to her husband, children, and siblings. The best of Renee will live on through each of you.

Renee was a wonderful contribution to the Tipton family. She loved the family and showed it at the Thanksgiving get togethers. I did not spend a lot of time with her outside of Thanksgiving but I always heard about her always making her presence at all of her kids events and being very much involved with their schooling. She was obviously a good mom, and very proud of her kids. I heard stories of how much fun times she had with her husband and kids. I am so sorry for this families loss, but I do know this family is a very strong family and will help each other through such a tough time. And I am sure Renee will be watching over you all from above. Sending my thoughts and prayers your way.
