Robert was born on July 8th,1946 to Robert and Bernice (McIntosh) Haddell in Detroit Michigan. After graduating from Franklin High School in 1964, he went on to serve in the United States Marine Corps.
During his time in the Marine Corps, he served as an aircraft mechanic, most proudly referring to his time spent working on President Johnson’s aircraft while stationed in Quantico, Virginia. Robert received a National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medals while he served and was honorable discharged in February 1970.
Robert was a loving father and proud grandfather. He carried the Veteran title with dignity and felt honored to have been able to serve. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and was extremely happy with the life he was able to share with his children and family the past few years.
His memory will be carried on by five children; Holly Haddell, Julie Haddell Bleau, Steven (Amanda) Garlick, Traci Haddell and Amanda Haddell as well as five grandchildren; Samantha Gaskill, Parker Garlick, Zachary Cunningham, Corey Garlick and Emma Haddell. He will be fondly remembered by three siblings; Patricia Vaughn, Lawrence Haddell and Sharon (David) Hall. Robert was preceded in death by his father Robert Haddell Sr., mother Bernice Haddell and brother Richard Haddell.
A Memorial Service will be held for Robert on Saturday, November 23rd at 12:30 pm at the Harry J. Will Funeral Home located in Wayne. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home Saturday morning beginning at 10:30 am until the time of his service. A procession to Glenwood Cemetery in Wayne will follow.
