October 12, 1946 – December 16, 2020
Sandra E Wallace-Smith was born October 12, 1946 to the late Joel and Delia Thomason, in Port Huron, Michigan. She attended Port Huron Public Schools and graduated from Port Huron High School, Class of 1966. As time passed, she relocated to Wayne, Michigan and then later to Detroit, where she met and marrrried Gerald Allen Wallace Sr. who preceded her in death. She later met and married Rodney “Pete” Smith, who also preceded her in death. She pursued a career as a Licensed Practical Nurse, graduating from Highland Park Community College and proudly provided care to the residents of New Light Nursing Center and Lakeshore Healthcare Skilled Nursing & Specialty Center until she retired in 2008. Sandra was a very generous person and if she could help in any way, she always would. She loved to play games on her tablet especially Solitaire and she loved to watch the TCM channel on TV to see the old classic movies. She loved to drink Peach Tea and Vernors pop until her health prevented her from doing so. Sandra accepted Christ into her life, as her Savior, during her teen years. On November 16 at 10:12 p.m…..HE called…she answered…. As in the words of the song "I”ll Fly Away", she gained her wings….from the land of the dying to the land of the living…gone to be with the LORD. Preceding her also in death: Her parents, siblings: Joan Curry, Betty Smith, Marva Shepherd, Mary Powell, and James Thomason. Sandra leaves to cherish her memory, two children, her daughter, Tamiko Priest of Dearborn, Michigan and her son, Gerald Allen Wallace, Jr. (Keysha) of Canton, Michigan; three grand-daughters Danaejah, Saikia and Simone Wallace; two brothers, Joel Thomason, Jr. (Brenda) and John Thomason (Delores), and a host of loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. A very special niece, Beverly Powell who lovingly cared for her “Aunt Sandra” with a heart of gold in the midst of facing challenges of her own. Thank-you Beverly. Sandra…YOU are probably singing this song now… If You Could See Me Now… Our prayers have been answered, I finally arrived. The healing that had been delayed, has now been realized No one's in a hurry, there’s no schedule to keep, We're all enjoying Jesus, Just sitting at His feet.
CHORUS: If you could see me now, I'm walking streets of gold If you could see me now, I'm standing tall and whole If you could see me now, you’d know I've seen His face If you could see me now, you'd know the pain's erased You wouldn't want me to ever leave this place If only you could see me now My light and temporary trials have worked out for my good To know it brought Him glory, When I misunderstood Though we've had our sorrows, They can never compare To what Jesus has in store for us, No language can share…(Don Moen)
What I will miss about you the most…. The “Heeeeey, Sandy”…as I would always greet you every day that we…either you would call me, or I would call you…Red Lobster lunches…Panera Bread take out….ummmmm…the Broccoli Cheddar soup or stopping to get your $5 box from KFC… gone but never forgotten….the way we were then… “sisters/cousins” and still are….. 😊, Billie.
