Sheri-Lyn Wilkins (Adcock) passed away Sunday, December 23, 2018. She died peacefully with her husband Russ, the love of her life and her pups by her side in the home they shared and cherished. Sheri was 57 years young.
Sheri lived a successful, fulfilling life forming lifelong relationships along the way. She was born in Harrison Township, Michigan at Selfridge Air National Guard Base on December 15, 1961 and spent her formative years in Clinton Township, where she excelled as a leader in academics, sports and other extra-curricular activities both in the community and at Clintondale High School. She went on to obtain a bachelor’s degree from Central Michigan University then a Master of Science degree in Industrial Organizational Psychology from Roosevelt University in Chicago, Illinois.
She met Russell ( Russ ) Wilkins in 1995 in Canton Michigan where they quickly became a strong unified couple and married in July 1996. Sheri became a leader in her community through her successful real estate business and many volunteer projects. Sheri had a love and devotion to animals which was evident through her actions. She and Russ fostered dogs for many years and she was a significant contributor to fundraising endeavors for the Michigan Humane Society. She also carried this same passion to her fundraising efforts which benefited cancer research.
Sheri loved experiencing and exploring nature. The great lakes, Emerald Isle, NC, Sarasota, FL, Hawaii and the mountains in Colorado were among some of her favorite places to spend time with those she loved. Sunrises and sunsets were among her favorite sights. She spent many hours hiking trails, exploring beaches and mountains, soaking in these gifts of nature with family and friends. Recently, she achieved a personal goal and climbed 14,000 feet to the top of Mount Evans in Idaho Springs Colorado, while continuing her fight with cancer. Her spirit of adventure remained bright, beautiful and strong. She cherished every day she was alive and shared her radiant spirit with those around her.
Sheri’s beautiful blue eyes and elegant appearance drew people to her, but her inner beauty and grace shined brighter than the stars. She was loved and cherished by those who knew her. She is greatly missed by many.
Sheri is survived by her loving husband of 22 years, Russell (Russ) Wilkins, preceded in death by her mother Roberta (Bobbie) Malecki survived by her father John (Sharon) Adcock. Dear niece of Jane and William Martin, Beloved daughter-in-law of Georgette La Chance. Loving caregiver of 3 cherished puppies, Beemer, Lexi and Mercedes and will be missed by countless friends.
A celebration of Life will be held at a later date, an announcement with date, time and location will be published on this site and other social media.
