Sue Ann Knittel (nee Chaney) of Detroit and Farmington Hills, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2012 after a three year battle with colon cancer. She left this world just as she lived: with grace and a sweet spirit.
She will be eternally cherished by her daughters Julie Pieri and Lisa Knittel, and her son Dennis Knittel, and her sons-in-laws Desmond Pieri and Robert Howell, and her daughter-in-law Jill Knittel. She is preceded in death by her beloved son Todd and her devoted husband Gerald Knittel. She is the cherished grandmother of Devan and Jesse Knittel, Dane, Gray, and Carl Pieri, and Killian Howell. Sue is the adored sister of Todd and Sally Chaney, and predeceased by her loving brother Tom.
Faith, friends and family were Sue’s abiding passions. This quote from Katrina Kenison, the author of “The Gift of an Ordinary Day,” captures Sue Knittel’s way of living: “There’s a beauty in cultivating an appreciation for what we already have.”
A memorial service will be held at 9:30 AM on Thursday July 12 at McClumpha Park Pavilion, 46640 Ann Arbor Trail, Plymouth, MI. In lieu of flowers, please direct donations in honor of Sue Knittel to Angela Hospice, 14100 Newburgh Road, Livonia, MI 48154.
