William Joseph Papke, age 81, of Livonia, Michigan passed away on Friday, December 31, 2021. William was born March 2, 1940 in Detroit, MI.
Beloved husband to Carole A. Papke. Loving father to Debra (Chad) Hartway and Kevin Papke. Cherished grandfather to Aaron and Joey Hartway. Dearest brother to Mary Frost and Raene Fairbanks
William was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Irene Papke.
William spent 54 wonderful years with his wife Carole and together they raised their family in Detroit and Livonia, Michigan. He was a loving father and grandfather. William and Carole worked through life challenges together and really were the perfect example of how love conquers all. He was a truck driver and loved driving semi-trucks for most of his life, enjoyed showing his truck to everyone especially his grandsons Aaron and Joey when they were younger. As he traveled all over the United States going places and meeting new people. Loved watching tv, movies and Detroit Tiger games with his loved ones. He could be described as a generous, caring and wonderful man. He will be missed deeply by all who knew and loved him.
William was in the United States Navy and honorably served and was discharged. He was also a member of the American Legion.
A visitation for William will be held Thursday, January 6, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Harry J Will Funeral Homes, 34567 Michigan Avenue, Wayne, Michigan 48184. A funeral in state will occur Friday, January 7, 2022 at 10:00 AM with a funeral service at 11:00 AM.
William will be laid to rest in Great Lakes National Cemetery.
