Adrienne was born in Harrisonburg, VA to the late Adrian Louis and Lorraine (Ney) Sonn on February 23, 1933.
She graduated from National Cathedral School in Washington, DC, but was an honorary member of the Harrisonburg High School class of 1951.
She married David I Robinson of Luray, VA on December 27, 1951 in Harrisonburg, VA, he passed away In August of 1968. On March 7, 1969, she married Vincent T. Elkind who passed away in July of 1995.
She was a girl scout leader and past president of the Skyline Girl Scout Council. She was past president of Temple Beth-El Sisterhood. She served in many roles at her family’s department store, Joseph Ney’s in Harrisonburg, VA. She and Vincent lived in Metuchen, NJ from 1971-1995. While in NJ, Adrienne held management positions in retail stores including Lane Bryant and Stern’s. She retired from Stern’s in 1994 and returned to VA where she held management positions and Stone and Thomas and Peebles.
She is survived by her loving children, Terri Jones and husband John, R. David Robinson and wife Mary Lynn Cotten, Fran Clark; step-children, Beth Elkind and husband, John, Ted Elkind and wife Lois; 9 grandchildren, Rebecca (Becki), Kevin, Katharine, David, Andrew, Eric, Glenn, Jeff, Katherine and 7 great-grandchildren. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted at Beth-El Cemetery, 700 Old Furnace Road, Harrisonburg, VA on Friday, September 3, 2021 at 2:00 p.m.
