

Born December 22, 1939 in Williamston, NC, he was a son of the late Alfred “Mayo” and Marina Elizabeth (Hines) Modlin.
Prior to retirement, Allan was employed for many years by Safeway Grocery Store, later he worked as the General Manager of the former Western Sizzlin Steakhouse in Waynesboro and lastly as a clerk at the Shell Gas Station in Greenville. He was a U.S. veteran having served his country honorably with the Army and rising to the rank of Specialist. Allan was a faithful member of Raphine Christian Church. He greatly enjoyed spending time with his family especially his grandchildren, reading and working crossword puzzles. He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary (Mabry) Modlin.
Survivors include his three sons, Rick Modlin of Greenville, Tony Modlin and wife, Tina, of IN, and Doug Modlin and wife, Sara, of OH; daughter-in-law, Cynthia Modlin of Greenville; grandchildren, Chris Modlin, Olivia Modlin, Garrett Modlin, Emily Modlin, Amanda Starcevich, Jenna Modlin, Kelsey Klick, Taylor Modlin, and Amber Modlin; brother, Stephen Harmon Modlin of NC; sisters-in-law, Martha Davis of NC and Peggy Leslie of TN; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 23, 2025 at West Waynesboro Church of Christ, 2212 Cortland St., Waynesboro.
Following the visitation, a memorial service will be held at 5:30 p.m. at the church with Pastor John Ward and Pastor Herb Zabel officiating. Burial will be private at Augusta Memorial Park, Waynesboro.
