Amy Michelle Lam

Amy Michelle (Hemp) Lam, 47, of Waynesboro passed away on Friday, December 16, 2016 after a long hard fight with kidney cancer. She was born in Waynesboro on November 24, 1969, a daughter of William A. Hemp, Jr. and Shirley Fitzgerald.

In addition to her parents, Amy is survived by her husband, Tony of Waynesboro; two son, Bradley Dean Lam and wife, Amber, and Daniel Lee Hemp; grandchildren, Hunter, Jacob, Kaden, Mckinley, Kendon, and Katryna; sister, Crystal Harris and husband, Joe; special aunt, Kitty Cash; as well as numerous extended family and friends.

Amy enjoyed NASCAR racing, watching her son Daniel race motocross, watching her husband racing dirt track, and watching her son, Brad race dirt track, whom was a graduate from the NASCAR Technical Institute. Amy spent her life raising two sons to become wonderful grown up men, and her proudest moment in her life was watching Daniel graduate from Boot Camp at Parris Island. Her two sons have been her whole life and they have become everything she had hoped they would be. Amy’s youngest son, Daniel became a United States Marine, which exceeded her expectations; making her the proudest mother in the world. Her children gave her the greatest gift by making her a grandmother to six grandchildren, whom were the light of her life.

Amy’s love for her family was unconditional, and she was very thankful for each and every day that she got to spend with them.

Amy’s wishes were to be cremated and have no visitation or services. She will be taken back home to be with her family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Amy M. Lam Kidney Cancer Foundation.

The family wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to Dr. James Boyer, Dr. Saher Sabri, Nurse Practitioner, Donna Markey, and nurse, Dot for all the wonderful loving care you gave to Amy and her family.
