

Arthur Wade "A.W." Sprouse, 69, passed away amongst his loving wife and children on April 5, 2017, due to his long, hard fought, battle with cancer. He was born on November 27, 1947 at Waynesboro Community Hospital to the late Arthur B. and Vivian Fisher Sprouse.
He married his longtime friend and love, Cynthia Ann Via, through a small backyard wedding in June of 1986. Arthur loved and was loved by many. He enjoyed listening to music while sharing a beer with his many friends. Arthur served two years in the United States Army before receiving an honorable discharge due to an injury in the Vietnam War. Being in the army well suited his courageous and brave heart, as well as his love for others and his country. His life was a living example of loyalty, love and strength.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first grandson, Anthony Wade Sprouse.
Arthur is survived by his wife, Cynthia; four daughters, Melissa Curry and Dallas Curry of Waynesboro, Tina Samuels and husband, Keith of Barboursville, Wendy Edwards and husband, Tory of Norfolk and Amanda VanBuren and husband, B.J. of Grottoes. Arthur loved and cherished his grandchildren, D. J. Curry and wife, Ariel, Dylan Samuels and wife, Alexa, Grace Samuels, Anna Samuels, Arianna Edwards and Ayden Edwards; great grandson, Connor Curry and step-great grandson, Landon Hewitt. He was deeply loved by his sister, Sylvia Wingfield and husband, Gary, brother; Jeff Sprouse and wife, Julie and his youngest sister, Amy DeMoss and husband, Marc. He also leaves a number of nieces and nephews whom he loved very much.
Following Arthur’s wishes, the family will be holding a private celebration to reflect on his wonderful life, at a later date.
