Arvetta Patricia Harter

Arvetta Patricia Harter, 81, of Waynesboro, passed away on Sunday October 24, 2021 at her residence.
Mrs. Harter was born on December 23, 1939 in Waynesboro, and was a daughter of the late Marvin Earl "Tom" and Margaret (Madison) Lafferty. She worked as a caregiver for adult mentally challenged individuals and babysat children. Arvetta was also a very talented seamstress. She later worked in security for the Holiday Inn. Mrs. Harter enjoyed going to yard sales and cooking. Her greatest enjoyment was babysitting children.
On December 23, 1957 she married Edgar Grady Harter who preceded her in death on October 30, 2001.
Mrs. Harter is survived by her children, Susan Harter of Fredericksburg, Vida Harter of Waynesboro, Johnny Harter of Waynesboro; eight grandchildren, Whitney Stevens, Joshua Craig, James Roberson, Mary Harter, Dustin Harter, Sean Murphy, T.J. Comer, Greg Jones; numerous great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; special friend, W.G. Pannell. The family would like to extend a sincere THANK YOU to her niece Sarah Love for the loving care she provided their mother over the past six months.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Harter was preceded in death by her son, Danny Harter, and her 4 siblings. She was the last surviving of five children. She was also preceded in death by a nephew, Damian Tingler.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 7, 2021 from 2 until 6 PM at the Waynesboro Fraternal Order of the Eagles.
