Billy Wayne Coffey

Born September 22, 1949 in Waynesboro, he was a son of the late Alfred and Tressia Coffey.

In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his wife, Renee Coffey; and siblings, Julia, Jane, Annia Belle, Joyce, Grover and Scottie.

Billy is survived by his daughter, Brandy Wingfield and her husband Joe; daughter, Holly Layman and her husband Matt; son, Josh Coffey and his wife Amber, all of Waynesboro; and grandchildren, Jessy, Gabe, Layla, Brooke and Abel who were his pride and joy. He is also survived by his sister, Becky Stump of Greenville.

Billy was a hunter, fisherman and loved the outdoors. He enjoyed picking guitar and caring for his donkeys. He loved the Lord and was a lifelong member of Rankin UMC until its closing in 2016. He most recently attended Barren Ridge Church and Community Fellowship until his health prevented him to attend regularly.

A memorial service with military honors will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at Barren Ridge Church, 1790 Barren Ridge Rd, Staunton, Va. The family will receive guests at the close of the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of the Shenandoah, c/o Augusta Health Foundation, P.O. Box 1000, Fishersville, VA 22939 who helped care for Billy in his final days.
