Carolyn Joan (Hite) Fitzgerald, 68 of 3016 Village Drive went to be with our Lord, Tuesday, January 31, 2012, at her home. Born in Waynesboro on February 26, 1943, she was the youngest daughter of the late Carl Hite and Ethel (Kehrer) Hite. Surviving is her loving companion, Steve Arehart and 4
children, Barry Watson and his wife Lisa, Paul Watson and his wife Jeannie, Tiffany Fitzgerald Coffey and Hank Fitzgerald and his companion Nancy Houseknecht. She also is survived by her brother Eugene (Pete) Hite of Va. Beach and grandson
Stephen Watson.
Carolyn was very giving and shared her love with those who had the privilege of knowing her and brightened the day for all she met. She had a wonderful relationship with her three sons and daughter. She was blessed with a kidney transplant from her daughter Tiffany in May 2009.
She and Steve had a “special” relationship that few people will ever know – and she will be sorely missed by all that knew her.
She had an affinity for “Snowmen and Roosters” with all being individually named. Her talents were far too numerous to name, but she loved to cook for her family and friends, giving happiness to everyone she met.
A graveside service will be conducted at the Mount Hermon Cemetery in Newport, Va. at 11:00 am on Friday,
February 3, 2012 officiated by Pastor Earl Monroe.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. Thursday, February 2, 2012 at the Waynesboro chapel of
Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.
The family would like to express our sincere appreciation to Roslyn Harry, Lynn Moon, Linda “Smitty” Smith, Audrey Young, and all the staff involved in Carolyn’s care and request in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Augusta Health
Hospice of the Shenandoah, 64 Sports Medicine Drive, PO Box 215, Fishersville, Va. 22939.
