Carolyn Yvonne Gayda

Carolyn was born in Kentucky to Robert and Myrtle Yoakum on June 30th, 1946. She worked for many years as a cook for Summit Square in Waynesboro. Carolyn was a wonderful wife, mother, sister and aunt who loved her family dearly. She was a voracious reader, and a passionate, accomplished cook. Her family will miss her presence, her smile, her sense of humor and her food.

In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by daughter, Suzie Marie Shifflett; two sisters; and 3 brothers.

Carolyn is survived by her husband, Paul Leo Gayda; her son Paul “Brat” Gayda and wife Susan of Springfield; her daughter, Cathy Minton and husband Drew of Waynesboro; a grandson, Jeremy Shifflett of Crimora; a brother, Hadley Yoakum of Jacksonville, Florida; and two special nieces, Sharon King and Marian Yoakum. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, as well as good friends.
