Charlene Brooks Sondheimer

She was born July 9, 1927 in Stuarts Draft, to her parents Martin and Anna Mae Patterson Brooks.

She worked at Crompton-Shenandoah for over 25 years and retired from Hathaway Paper.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Joseph “Red” Sondheimer, two brothers; Carl Brooks, Iskol Brooks, two sisters; Betty Fisher and Elva Collins, and two nephews; Leland Brooks and Steven Wayne Brooks.

Survivors include a daughter, Rosemary Sparks and son-in-law Roger Sparks of Stuarts Draft, grand-daughters; Lori Giboy and husband Tim of Pittsburgh, PA., and Ashley Sparks of New Orleans, LA. She is also survived by her best friend of 86 years, Mrs. Zane Booker.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Friday March 7, 2014 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes by Dr. Michael Curry. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers will be the staff from Stuarts Draft Christian Home who were her angles.

The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 PM Thursday March 6, 2014 at the funeral home.
