

Charles Paul Chatham, 84, of Waynesboro passed away Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Augusta Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Fishersville. He was born in Shobonier, Illinois on July 5, 1931, a son of the late Delmer and Elsie Chatham.
Paul proudly served his country for 30 years in the United States Navy obtaining Master Chief E-9. During his military career, he earned many awards and medals. On February 2, 1957, he married his beloved bride, Martha Nell Chatham. Together with their four daughters they lived in Virginia Beach. After their children were grown and he had retired, Martha and Paul traveled the country. While traveling, they fell in love with the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Shenandoah Valley and decided to settle here.
In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his wife on October 21, 2008; a daughter, Janet Clough; as well as his siblings.
Survivors include his three daughters, Diane Spencer of South Mills, NC, Linda Harrill and husband, Mike of Waynesboro, and Margaret Chatham of Virginia Beach; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; brother, Berthal Chatham; three sisters, Ruby Sneed and her husband, Tom, Betty Floren, and Venus Lytle; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, January 21, 2016 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes with Rev. Clayton Payne officiating. Burial to follow with military honors in Riverview Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, January, 20, 2016 at the funeral home.
