He was born September 4, 1929 a son of the late Charles Ernest Sr. and Daisy Lipes Rodgers.
He was a veteran of the United States Army Veteran having served in “A” Battery, 78th Armored Field Artillery Battalion, 2nd Armored Division (Hell on Wheels).
He was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church and retired from the former General Electric/Genicom Company after forty years of service.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Rodgers; a son, Charles L. Rodgers and his wife, Amanda of Waynesboro; a daughter, Hollie N. Rodgers of Norfolk; two step-grandchildren, Andrew and Abby.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Friday, August 7, 2015 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes with Pastor Clay Knick officiating.
Burial will follow in Augusta Memorial Park.
Active pallbearers will be Carter Paradis, Randy Patterson, Stu Pitts, Greg Irwin, Chris Morris and Michael Patterson.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
