

Born May 4, 1943 in Bedford County, VA, he was a son of the late Ed Joseph and Ora Lee (Maddox) Campbell.
Prior to retirement, Clayton was employed by Ladd Auto where he worked as a mechanic. He was a talented bowler and a member of the United States Bowling Congress. Clayton also enjoyed going fishing and watching NASCAR. Affectionately known as “Pop” to his loved ones, he will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Herbert Campbell, Lena Angus, Henry Campbell, Edward Campbell, Betty Davis, Effie Mays, Virginia Manky, and Ruby Mays.
Survivors include his loving wife, Betty H. Campbell of Stuarts Draft; five sons, Clayton “Joey” Campbell, Jr. of Crimora, Danny Campbell of Crimora, Donald Campbell and wife, Angie, of Lyndhurst, Thomas “Tommy” Campbell and wife, Tammy, of Fishersville, and Ashley Kevin Campbell and wife, Laura of Waynesboro; grandchildren, Shawna, Cody (Sarah), Dylan, Hannah, Alisha (Montgomery), Ryan, Heidi, Aidan, Jacob, Wyatt, Elle, and Brett (Victoria); great-grandsons, Montgomery, Knox and Brooks; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Following cremation, the family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main St., Waynesboro.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
