

Collis Bowman Blosser, 82, formerly of Hildebrand Church Road, Waynesboro, passed away at 7:10 a.m. Thursday, September 13, 2012, at Envoy of Staunton. Collis was born on May 15, 1930, a son of the late Samuel O. and Fannie Craig Blosser. He was a veteran of the United States Army and retired from Reynolds Metals of Grottoes after 33 years of service. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gwendolyn "Maxine" Blosser on November 28, 2003; and six brothers, Carl, Glen, Ervin, Vance, Ray and Marvin Blosser. Survivors include a son, Dale R. Blosser of Mount Sidney; a daughter, Joyce B. Wheeler and husband, Gerald, of Lyndhurst; a brother, William "Clyde" Blosser of Verona; two sisters, Eva Blosser of New Hope and Sylvia Hartley of New Warford, Ohio; three grandchildren, Jason C. Wheeler, Reid A. Blosser and Gavin R. Blosser. A service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 18, 2012, at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes by the Reverend Homer Frazier. Burial will follow at Augusta Memorial Park. Military Rites will be provided by American Legion Post 340.
Active pallbearers will be Frank Nolen, Ernie Hiner, J. Kent Hite, Benny McAllister, Marshall Davis and John Rollins. Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Humphreys and Julian Via. The family will receive friends from 7 until 8 p.m. Monday, September 17, 2012, at the funeral home.
