Danny Howard Alexander

Danny was born on January 3, 1950 in Staunton, Virginia a son of the late Howard and Pearl (Ricketson) Alexander.

He graduated from Wilson Memorial High School in 1969. He was employed by DuPont and later the Lycra Company for 43 years where he held multiple positions but lastly retired as a mechanic in 2014. Danny loved music and began playing in bands as a drummer when he was 15 years old. He played in numerous bands, including the Coachmen. He also had a talent for playing the piano by ear. Not only did he love playing music, he also loved to dance. There were many times when as long as the music was playing, Danny was on the dance floor. He also treasured entertaining his friends in his music room. Danny had many talents, including his mechanical ability. He could fix practically anything, and had the utmost patience while doing it. His favorite pastime was playing golf. He love being on the course and looked forward to the Mondays when he played with his buddy, Erik. Danny loved going on vacation, especially to the beach, and many awesome memories were made with his family. Danny had a huge number of friends. Everyone who knew him loved him and he loved them. He definitely had the ability to make people laugh and his own laugh was contagious. Danny was a very caring and compassionate man and enjoyed being of help to anyone who needed it.

He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Holly; his sons, Keith Alexander and wife, Zaibun, of Raleigh, NC and Derek Alexander of Richmond, VA; one grandson, Riyan, of Raleigh, NC; sisters, Janis Harris and husband, Tommy, of Waynesboro and Patsy Sweeney and husband, Melvin of Staunton and Carolyn Morris of Staunton; brother, Clarence Alexander and wife, Debbie, of Fishersville; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his special fur baby, Beckham.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main St., Waynesboro.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at Bridge Christian Church, 1275 Old Goose Creek Road, Fishersville, with Pastor Stacey Burkholder officiating. Burial will follow at Augusta Memorial Park, Waynesboro.

Active pallbearers will be David Ross, David Hevener, Erik Hevener, Matt Landes, Tommy Harris, Ashley Kindig, Chip Bell, and Justin Leary.

Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Valley Mission, 1513 West Beverley Street, Staunton, VA 24401 as Danny’s father helped establish the organization.
