

Danny was born May 3, 1947 in Independence, Kansas to the late Gordon Robert Hoad and Rachel Ellen (Chidester) Hoad. Danny married the love of his life, Karen Bressie, on May 31, 1968.
He grew up and went to school in the town of Caney, Kansas, and graduated college magna cum laude from Wichita State University, earning his aeronautical engineering degree. Danny earned his Master of Science (acoustics) from George Washington University on May 6, 1979. He worked as a research engineer for the Department of the Army for 32 years as a civil service employee. He served in the Army Reserves for six years as an E-4 drill sergeant and paratrooper. Danny’s hobbies were radio controlled airplanes and golf.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, David Hoad.
Survivors include his loving wife, Karen (Bressie) Hoad of Waynesboro, Virginia; son, Darrin Hoad and wife Diana of Waynesboro, Virginia; daughter Delaina Hoad and partner Michael Martinez of Lanexa, Virginia; grandchildren Devin Hoad, Joshua McVay, Madison Hoad, Camille Hoad and Ashley Cook; great grandson, Carter Cook; cousins, Sandy Gilliam, Michael Pendleton and Wendy Gann; including in-laws, Michael Bressie and wife, Sonya; and Keith Bressie and wife, Sandy; and Debbie Bressie Coski and husband, Mark, all to whom Danny was very close.
Danny also leaves his sweet dog, Murphy, who gave him much joy.
Following cremation, a memorial service with military honors will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main Street, Waynesboro, Virginia 22980.
