Born June 25, 1932, he was the son of the late John and Edna Painter.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Jerry and Richard Painter; grandson, Ricky Painter, Jr.; siblings, Hester Moran, Dale, Winston and John Painter.
Survivors include his children, Dennis, Ricky, Johnny, Brenda and Tony Painter; siblings, Herman Painter and wife, Florine, Grace Tomlin, Lois Oliver and Phyllis Rose; five grandchildren; special niece, Julie Tomlin; special great niece and nephew, Josey Edwards and Carla Edwards.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, July 19, 2013 at Calvary United Methodist Church Cemetery, Stuarts Draft with Rev. Richard Peters officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 18, 2013 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.
