

Born August 11, 1928 in Virginia she was a daughter of the late William and Ethel Louise (Pleasants) Moyer and was raised by the late Lewis and Lucy Harlow. On August 28, 1946 she married John L. Shiflett, Jr. The two shared 65 years of wonderful marriage until his passing on July 15, 2012.
Corky was a member of Shenandoah Heights Baptist Church, Waynesboro. Affectionately known as Grandma Corky, she enjoyed spending time with her family as she cooked and helped raise her grandchildren through the years. She could usually be found working on a word search, reading the Bible or listening to Gospel music. She will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister and aunt.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, William D. Moyer, Harold Moyer, and Wayne C. Moyer; and four sisters, Frances Speck, Sheila Fisher, Patsy Wainwright, and Ovelina Shiflett.
Survivors include her daughter, Beverly A. “Belle” Hite and husband, J. Kent of Waynesboro; son, Russel G. “Pete” Shiflett and wife, Debbie of Waynesboro; four grandchildren, Rhonda Henderson, Christy Hostetter, Cam Norton, and Shelley Armstrong; five great-granddaughters, Kaitlynn Garasimowicz, Elisa Hostetter, Kendall and Carly Norton, and Lily Armstrong; one great-great-granddaughter, Aubree Garasimowicz; brother, Samuel A. Moyer and wife, Patty; sister, Loretta Miller and husband, Houston; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Following cremation, a graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 6, 2023 at Augusta Memorial Park, 1775 Goose Creek Road, Waynesboro with Pastor Paul LaPrevotte and Chaplain Matthew At Lee officiating. All who plan to attend are asked to meet directly at the cemetery.
There will be no formal visitation at the funeral home, however, friends may visit with the family at her home.
