Dorothy Maust Mathias

She was born December18,1930 in Somerset, PA., a daughter of the late Sylvester and Elizabeth (Opal) Maust.

Dorothy was a member of Mount Vernon Church of the Brethren and retired as a billing clerk from the former Smith’s Transfer.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William F. “Bill” Mathias, Sr.; and a sister, Eleanor Pearson.

Survivors include a daughter, Jody Wiseman and husband, David; son, William Mathias, Jr.;daughter, Betty Mathias; two sisters, Lois Maust and Mary Shuman; two grandchildren, Lauren Wiseman and William Mathias, lll; and two great-grandchildren, Bella Wiseman and Grayson Combs.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 8, 2026 at Mount Vernon Church of the Brethren Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. at Mount Vernon Church of the Brethren with Pastor Dwight Roetto officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m.until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 7, 2026 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Street, Waynesboro.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mount Vernon Church of the Brethren, 90 Mount Vernon Rd., Waynesboro, Va 22980 or to the Hospice Foundation General Fund, In care of Augusta Heath, P.O. Box 909, Fishersville, Va 22980 in memory of Dorothy Mathias.
