He was born on April 10, 1929, to his parents Albert "Lefty" Huewe and Marjorie Huewe in Trent, South Dakota. He spent his early years in Trent and Dell Rapids living and working on a farm as a youngster and playing baseball and basketball through high school.
Dwaine attended and graduated from South Dakota State University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Just days after graduation, on June 9, 1951, he married the love of his life, Bernadette Marie Acheson. Together, they raised six children and shared a loving marriage until her passing in 1983.
Following his graduation, Dwaine served honorably in the U.S. Air Force as a second lieutenant. After his military service, he embarked on a distinguished career as an electrical engineer working for Westinghouse, Hughes Aircraft and later with the U.S. Department of Defense, where he worked until his retirement.
Dwaine was fortunate to find love again and, through mutual friends, met Judith Ann Bowman Arbia. They were married on April 13, 1985, and shared 40 wonderful loving years together. Dwaine and Judy spend many years traveling around the US and Canada in their RV from their home in Sierra Vista, AZ and then relocating to Stuarts Draft, VA. They were a couple who could transform any gathering into an unforgettable event. Their home was buzzing with family, friends and laughter.
Dwaine is survived by his beloved wife, Judith Huewe; his children Bruce Huewe, David Huewe, Daniel Huewe, Ann Beach, and Brian Huewe; 14 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bernadette; his parents, Albert “Lefty” Huewe and Marjorie Huewe; his brother, Douglas Huewe; his firstborn child, who was stillborn; his son, John Craig Huewe; and his grandson, Jake Huewe.
