Born January 2, 1955 in Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of the late George Sims, Jr. and Ethel Lillian (Kenney) Sims.
Elaine found great joy in the beauty of the outdoors and especially enjoyed spending time tending to her flower beds. She cherished hiking with her husband along the Blue Ridge Parkway and throughout Shenandoah National Park, creating many wonderful memories together. Elaine was a lifelong questioner, had a deep interest in ufology and was an avid viewer of Ancient Aliens. She also enjoyed listening to music, sunbathing and drinking coffee. Those who knew and loved Elaine will especially remember her love of making candy, with her homemade peanut butter fudge being a particular family favorite. She took great pleasure in making it for those she loved and sharing it with family and friends. Elaine could often be found helping a family member or friend through a difficult situation, never expecting anything in return. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Carolyn Levine, Evelyn Griffin, Ken Sims, Larry Sims and J.D. Sims.
Survivors include her loving husband of 24 years, James Rodgers; two sons, Shannon Lindsey (Robert J. Mancino) and Eric Benjamin Lindsey (Stephanie); four grandchildren, Matthew, Nathan, Christopher, and Emma Lindsey; sister, Lillian Feathers; brothers, David, John, and Greg Sims; special friends, Glenda Lipscomb and Cindy Swisher; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Per her wishes, following cremation there will be no formal services.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes of Waynesboro.
