Obituary of Elizabeth Hatter Moses
Rhoda Elizabeth (Hatter) Moses of Waynesboro, VA passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at her home in Waynesboro. Elizabeth was born in Freeman, WV to Christopher Columbus and Ethel Jane (Allen) Hatter on June 27, 1924. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Milton Warren Moses; her brother, George Hatter; three sisters, Ellen Martin, Lillian Rogers and Margie Laing; a daughter, Betty Ann Johnson and a grandson, Jamie Johnson. Elizabeth loved to read and was a very talented musician. She was descended from the talented Allen family of Montebello and had taught herself to play the piano, organ, guitar and mandolin. She had recently at the age of 90 given a piano concert at her church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and aunt, treasured her church family and saw positive in everyone she met. She was loved by all who knew her. Elizabeth is survived by three brothers, Herbert Hatter, Stan (Peg) Hatter and Jack (Yvette) Hatter and two sisters, Doris (Seth) Davis and Crickett Hatter. She is also survived by four daughters, Janie (Jim) McHale of Soldotna, AK, Rebecca (Case) van Dam of Davis, CA, Susan (Joe) Brown of Greenville, SC and Deborah Moses of Waynesboro. She leaves behind four grandchildren, Greta Boone, Elizabeth Meadows, Wanda Griffin and Carol Johnson; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 27, 2017 between the hours of 6:00p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes in Waynesboro. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes in Waynesboro with burial service following at Riverview Cemetery. The family of Elizabeth wish to extend their love and appreciation to her extended church family including Bonnie Kent and her family, Reverend Tom Jammes and his family, the River City Worship Center congregation and her care workers who brought joy and care to her daily life.
