Elizabeth Mae (Woods) Norman, 65, of Waynesboro went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 29, 2013 at Shenandoah Nursing Home. Born March 17, 1948 in Augusta County, she was the daughter of the late Jay Preston and Judy Bell (Riley) Woods. On October 17, 1964 she married the love of her life and best friend, Randolph Norman. The two shared a blessed union of 48 years together. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents. Mae loved serving the Lord and attended Laurel Hill Full Gospel Church, Verona. She was employed by Augusta Health for 13 years until her health caused her to retire in May of 2013. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family, especially cooking for them every Sunday. Mae extremely enjoyed Christmas and those who knew her knew how special this holiday was to her. When time permitted she enjoyed gardening. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. In addition to her loving husband, survivors include her three children, Randolph Keith Norman of Waynesboro, Karen Elizabeth Beasley and husband, Mike of Staunton and Christopher Ken Norman and wife, Rosa of Staunton; siblings, her twin Marie Fitzgerald of Maryland, Brenda Woods of Waynesboro and Jerry Woods and wife, Denise of Waynesboro; grandchildren, Michael, Kayla, Franchesca and Taylor Norman; great-granddaughter, Madison Mowbray; soon to be born great-granddaughter, Khloe Norman-Hamlett. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes, 618 W. Main St., with Rev. William Strickler officiating. Burial will follow at Augusta Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Michael Norman, Joseph Woods, Raymond Woods, Steffan Thorton, Leroy Brown and Jeminiah Brown. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at the funeral home. If roses grow in heaven, Lord, pick a bunch for me.
Place them in my mothers arms and tell her they're from me.
Tell her that I love her, and when she turns to smile,
Place a kiss upon her cheek and hold her for awhile.
Because missing her is easy; I do it everyday.
There's an ache within my heart that will Never go away...

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Randy and family. I grew up in the Phillipines as they called it and as a girl remember Mae and her family, my husband Doug then worked with Randy at Wayn-Tex. May God give comfort and strength to you all. Keeping you in prayers.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all during your time of need. I have not seen Mae for a very long time. Family is so important in our short time on earth and time goes quickly like a wind blowing through the trees. Before you know it is over and you never get to say that you care, but families are forever. Some day, I will get the chance.

We grieve the same as we love, in our own individual way. May time be kind to your hearts and bring sweet memories in place of sadness. I know Mae had a very strong bond with the Lord. Our momie Addie (Granny Beasley) loved Mae very much. Please know our families thoughts, love and prayers are with all the family and love ones of Mae.

I'm sorry for the loss of Sister Mae. She became a great friend of mine during the time of attendance at my Uncle William Strickler's church. She and Randy sat behind us, and I can still hear her laugh. I remember when the spirit of the Lord would come down upon her and she would shout and praise God. She encouraged me in so many ways. She will be missed, but I know where she is today, and plan to meet her in Heaven.
