Born and raised in the mountains near Skyline Drive, Ella Mae carried the strength and beauty of that landscape in everything she did. She was a caregiver at heart, known for her big heart, her sass, and the fierce love she had for her family. Her home, tucked away on the side of the mountain, was a peaceful haven—filled with warmth, laughter, and a flower garden she lovingly tended. Each bloom was nurtured with the same care she gave to those around her.
Ella Mae is survived by her children, Darlene Martin, Rose Martin, Angel Martin (Phillip Eaves), and Steve Martin; grandchildren, Charles Martin, Rebecca Martin, Stephanie Crawford (Robbie Crawford), Joshua Shifflett, Derek Gentry, Brooke Talley (Victor Aquino), and Corey Eaves; and great-grandchildren, Courtney, Logan, Madden, JoJo, Bailey, Gracie, Rylie, Forest, Avery, Emory, Lacy, and Dakota. She is also lovingly remembered by her special niece and nephew, Sharon Fitzgerald and Fred Quick.
She is preceded in death by her parents, all of her siblings, her beloved children Julia “Judy Ann” Martin and Arthur “Tommy” Mays, and her granddaughter Amber.
Ella Mae’s legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the family she raised, and the beautiful garden she leaves behind. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
There will be no formal services at the funeral home, but a Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date to honor Ella's life.
Arrangements entrusted to the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes.
