

Born July 30, 1956 in Waynesboro, he was a son of the late Ernest Lee and Mary Victoria (Hutchinson) Hupman. He married Donna Kidd in 1980. The two shared 44 years of wonderful marriage together.
Ernest was a U.S. retired veteran having served his country honorably as a Fire Support Specialist with the Army for 20 years and had risen to the rank of Sergeant First Class (SFC). During his military career, he was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officer’s Professional Development Ribbon with Numeral 2, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Parachutist Badge, and Driver and Mechanic Badge with Driver-A-Bar. He was also the recipient of the Honorable Order of Saint Barbara Medal reserved for those who have displayed exceptional professionalism, competence and significant contributions to the field artillery. Ernest was an avid outdoorsman who greatly enjoyed hunting, wildlife, and bird watching. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Martin.
Survivors include his loving wife, Donna Hupman of Waynesboro; three children, Melissa April Whitesell of GA, Ernest Wayne Hupman and wife, Amanda, of Waynesboro, and Bryan Lee Hupman and wife, Amber, of Waynesboro; seven grandchildren, Zachery Hupman, Payten Hupman, Garrett Hupman, Brody Hupman, Brylee Hupman, Tyler Whitesell, and Hunter Whitesell; and sister, Vickie Norman of Waynesboro.
Following cremation, all services will be private.
