Ethel Ileene Collins

Ethel Ileene Collins, 86, of Waynesboro, passed away on Sunday morning April 15, 2012 at Augusta Health in Fishersville. Ethel was born on November 19, 1925 in Huttonsville, West Virginia and was a daughter of the late George Dewey and Lauthbury Channell Wamsley. She was married in Waynesboro on May 10 1947 to Charles Wilford Collins, who survives. They were united in marriage for 65 years. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Collins is survived by a son, Larry Collins and wife Nancy of Waynesboro; a daughter, Janet Bean and husband Harvey of Stuarts Draft; four grandchildren, Brian and Jessica Collins, Angela Bean and Donica Sluss; two great-grandchildren, Joshua McElroy and Kaylee Sluss; three sisters, Rigina Wamsley, Josephine Collins and husband Harold, Barbara Fidler; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Collins was preceded in death by three brothers, Carl, Robert, and James Wamsley, and by one sister, Eleanor Pingley. She graduated from Tygarts Valley High School in Mill Creek, West Virginia in 1945. Ethel was employed at General Electric and Genicom for 17 years. She was a flower gardener, great cook, homemaker, mother, wife, sister and friend to many. Ethel always enjoyed her home, family and friends, keeping in her tradition a kind, loving compassionate lady. She will be sadly missed and warmly remembered. Ethel was a member of the 2nd Presbyterian Church. We are assured that her faith has ushered her into the presence of her savior Jesus Christ. Friends will be received at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 from 6 until 8 pm. There will be a graveside service on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at 11 am at Augusta Memorial Park in Waynesboro with Rev. Rex Batten officiating. Friends and family will gather at the funeral home at 10:30 to go in procession to the cemetery.
