It cannot be overstated the wide impact Gary has had on the lives of countless others, driven by his love for his community and strong faith. He will always be remembered for a quiet sort of wisdom that was sought after in moments of turbulence, and a unique brand of humor that was used at just the right time, when a laugh was needed most. His life gave testament to the way in which his deeply held belief in Jesus Christ can radically alter the course of not one life, but entire generations of timelines for the good. Gary was led by his faith to change his life, breaking generational curses of abuse and addiction in exchange for a life lived in full, and a family that was held together and expanded through the love of his Savior.
This family that continues to expand due to this love includes his wife, Carolyn; his two sons, Travis (Christy), and Steven (Laurie); his two daughters, Sonia (Greg) and Tina (Ronnie); ten grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren with two more on the way. This great family not only survives Garland Spradlin, but gratefully bears witness to the grace which he accepted from his Savior and in which we daily live.
We mourn his loss and welcome you to celebrate his life with us at a funeral service on Monday, February 17th, at 12:00 PM held at Wayside Baptist Church, where he faithfully served for 46 years, with Pastor Levi Smith officiating. Burial will follow the service at Augusta Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends prior to the service, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Wayside Baptist Church (45 Turk Mountain Ln, Waynesboro, VA).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wayside Baptist Missions Fund.
