

Gearldine Marie (Robertson) Baber Bryant, 81, widow of Eugene Mack Bryant, died on Saturday, March 3, 2012, at her home. She was born on October 23, 1930, in Augusta County, a daughter of the late Charlie Robertson and Willie Lowery Robertson.
She was a member of Stuarts Draft Mennonite Church. Family members include a daughter, Nancy Baber Carter and son-in-law, Ed, of Churchville; two grandchildren, Shawna Armstrong and husband, David, of Staunton, Jason I. Carter and wife, April, of Churchville; five great-grandchildren, Cheyenne, Dillin, and Brayden Armstrong, Jacob and Rachael Carter, all of whom she loved dearly. She also leaves a special friend, Heber Byrd; and a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Bryant was the last surviving of her immediate family.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Halsie Robertson; and three brothers, Clyde Robertson, Ottie Robertson and Austin Robertson.
Mrs. Bryant retired from Waynesboro Nurseries after many years of service. She enjoyed spending time with family, working in her garden, researching family history and watching birds. She never met a stranger and always had a ready smile and a quick wit. She was very proud of the role of the "Wreath Lady" during the Christmas season in Staunton as she continued a legacy from generations passed down from her grandmother and mother. This family tradition was featured in the Staunton News Leader.
She was very loved by her family and has left a void in our hearts. She will be greatly missed by all. A special thank-you to Dr. Maya Ghaemmaghami, Donna Markey and staff of HOPE Cancer Center for their concern of the past 13 years. Also a special thanks to Drs. Keith Knoell, Rehman, Carlton Stein, Sandy Robertson, the staff of the 3rd floor of Augusta Health and Hospice of the Shenandoah for their compassionate care.
A service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2012, at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes by Pastor Matthew Hann. Burial will follow at Stuarts Draft Mennonite Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be grandsons, Jason Carter, David Armstrong, special friends Heber Byrd, Bobby Davis, Russell Lowery and Nip Flesher.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2012, at the funeral home. F Friends may also call at the home of her granddaughter, Shawna Armstrong, 2401 Fifth Street, Staunton ,following the service and at other times at the residence of her daughter and son-in-law, 19 Manor Place, Churchville.
