Horace Eugene Burnett Jr.

Horace Eugene Burnett Jr., 71, of 5779 Taylor Creek Road, passed away at 12:45 a.m. Monday, November 18, 2013, at the University of Virginia Medical Center. He was born March 20, 1942, in Norfolk, Virginia, the son of the late Horace Eugene Sr., and Christine Hines Burnett. He was employed as a longshoreman 970 in the ship yards in Norfolk. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Ruth Burnett. Survivors include his wife, Darlene Burnett; a son, Horace Eugene Burnett lll of Craigsville; two daughters, Kim Reiss and husband, Adam of Gloucester, and Christine Lawhorn and husband, Eddie of Waynesboro; a sister, Joan Robie of Portsmouth; six grandchildren, David White, Boo Lawhorn, Brandon White, Kaylee White, Lukus Lawhorn, and Lacie Lawhorn; and a great grandson, Lane Lawhorn. He also leaves his former wife, Joanne Morgan of Virginia Beach; as well as a number of brother and sisters; in law; and nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, November 21, 2013, at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes. A private family burial will follow at a later date.
