James Eldred Brumfield

Mr. Brumfield was born on March 29, 1938 in Waynesboro, and was a son of the late Leslie Eldred and Winnie Bell (Forbes) Brumfield. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. James worked for DuPont in the Benger Labratory for more than 30 years prior to his retirement. He was an avid supporter of UVA Athletics and enjoyed restoring old furniture. Mr. Brumfield was a Founding and Lifetime Member of the Stuarts Draft Rescue Squad. He was also a member of Ridgeview Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sara Brumfield on September 26, 2005.

Mr. Brumfield is survived by his children, Kim Underwood of Stuarts Draft, Debbie Lowe and companion Ralph Richie of Lyndhurst, Susan “Nicky” Brumfield of Richmond, Mark Brumfield of Knoxville, TN; a sister, Doris Brumfield Garber of Lyndhurst; four grandchildren, Mandy, Norman, Dexter, Ashley; and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Brumfield was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jessica.

A private family graveside service will be held.
