James Dewey Jones

James Dewey Jones, 83, of Stuarts Draft, passed away on Wednesday December 5, 2012, with his daughter by his side, at Augusta Nursing and Rehabilitation in Fishersville.

Mr. Jones was born on February 21, 1929 in West Virginia and was a son of the late Dewey and Ruth (Simmons) Jones. James worked in maintenance for ConAgra in Crozet for many years prior to his retirement. He was a member of Stuarts Draft Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, watching baseball at all levels, especially his grandson Ryan as he grew up, never missing a game, and spending time with his beloved dog “Giz”. He never met a stranger, and touched many lives. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many who will greatly miss him.

On September 5, 1959 he married the love of his life, the former Dorothy Patterson who survives.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Jones is survived by his only daughter, Cindy Jones of Stuarts Draft, who was the light of his life; “Papa” to two grandchildren, Ryan and Mandy Marshall who were precious to him; a great-granddaughter, Camryn Saum, whom he greatly adored; and his beloved dog “Giz”. He was also preceded in death by his brother and best friend, Jake Jones.

A graveside service will be held.
