He was born in Maryland on January 29, 1937, a son of the late James Lincoln and Gertrude (White) Ours.
James retired from the former General Electric Company and was engaged in farming.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Emily Meeks Ours; sons, Eric Ours, Scott Ours and a daughter, Mary Katherine Ours.
James leaves behind a grandson, Jeremy Ours.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 18, 2026 at Mt. Horeb Presbyterian Church, 4517 Rockfish Rd., Grottoes with the Rev. Dr. John McDonald officiating.
Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Rockfish Rd., Crimora.
Active pallbearers will be John Patterson, Dean Smallwood, Wayne Weeks, Jeremy Ours, Alex Wood and Caleb Weeks.
The casket will be closed and there will be no visitation at the funeral home.
