Born December 1, 1952 in Goochland County, he was the son of the late James Ballard Skeen, Sr. and Katherine (Blackwell) Skeen.
Mr. Skeen attended and was baptized at Edward Avenue Baptist Church. He was an employee of Home Depot where he worked as a stocker. James was a member of the Waynesboro Senior Center. He enjoyed watching WWE wrestling and the Redskins and working crossword puzzles.
Survivors include his loving daughter, Sara Skeen and husband, Zo Carter; granddaughter, Zion Carter; siblings, Glen Skeen and Judy (Skeen) Moats and husband, Hank; nieces and nephews, Diana Dunford and significant other, Steven Terrell, Jr., Preston Dunford and wife, Amy and Jamie Grimes and husband, Tom.
Following cremation, a celebration of life service will be held at 7p.m. on July 2, 2014 at Edward Avenue Baptist Church with Pastor Gary May officiating. Family will receive friends on Wednesday July 2, 2014, from 6 until 7 pm
