

Born June 7, 1939 in Lyndhurst, he was the son of the late Aubrey and Edna (Lyons) Thompson.
James was a former employee of Coffey’s Market, Staunton Fruit and Produce and was most recently employed by Sharp Shopper.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard N. Thompson.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Thompson of Waynesboro; son, James King Thompson, Jr and wife, Rhonda of Waynesboro; daughters, Sharon Estes and husband, Darrell of Crimora, Audrey Coffey and husband, Mike of Lyndhurst; grandchildren, Dawn Estes and fiancé, William Maybush, Jeffrey Estes and wife, Amanda, Renea Coffey and fiancé, Derek Alford; great-grandchildren, Taylor Cash, Scarlett Estes, Izack McAllister; great-great grandchild, Waylon Cash. He also leaves a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at the Waynesboro Chapel of Reynolds Hamrick Funeral Homes with Pastor Billy Coffey officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Lawn Mausoleums & Memory Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be Charles Massie, Gary Bradley, Junior Chandler, William Maybush, Joe Dedrick and James Edward Dedrick. Honorary pallbearers will be his nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at the funeral home and other times at Sharon and Darrell’s home at 518 Thorofare Road, Crimora.
