Jane Arnold Desper

Jane was born in Virginia, to Pearl Arnold and Raymond Arnold on January 28th, 1934. Jane was a long time employee of Western State Hospital in Staunton, working as a social worker for that facility for more than 30 years. In her spare time, Jane loved to travel, making trips all over the world. She also enjoyed music and attending concerts all over the U.S. She was a rabid Washington Redskins fan and adored her family, informally adopting her nieces and nephews as surrogate children. Jane was also a woman of deep faith who was heavily involved with her church, Mt. Vernon Church of the Brethren.

In addition to her parents, Jane was preceded in death by a sister, Geraldine Fix; and a niece, Donna Fix.

Jane is survived by her nieces, Debbie Berry and husband Raymond, Susan Hanger and husband Tom; and her nephews, Jeffrey Fix Sr. and wife Dianna, Jeremy Fix and wife Lisa, and Scott Fix and wife Ashely Nicely. In addition, Jane is survived by her special friends, Ron; Debbie Sharp; and Cindy Waggy.

A funeral service will be conducted on Friday, January 16th, at 2:00 PM at Mt. Vernon Church of the Brethren in Waynesboro with Pastor Dwight Roetto officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 16th, at 1:00 PM at Mt. Vernon COB.
