

WAYNESBORO, VA - Jane May Thompson Laughlin, 84, of Waynesboro, VA died peacefully surrounded by the love of her entire family on September 13, 2014 at Summit Square Retirement Community where she and her husband have resided since 2006. Jane was the beloved daughter of the late William Walter Thompson and Florence May "Meme" Thompson. She was born August 4, 1930, resided in NW Washington, DC and graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School.
Jane graduated from the Richmond Professional Institute (now VCU) in 1952, and married Dillard Chappell Laughlin on May 21, 1955. They made their home in Arlington, Virginia for 33 years with their four children, Elizabeth, Dillard, Jr, David, and Andrew. Jane was a homemaker and active in the Junior League of Northern Virginia, Garden Club of Virginia and the Holly Society of Virginia. In 1988 Dillard and Jane retired to the Northern Neck of Virginia (Kinsale).
Left to cherish Jane's memory and loving spirit are: her husband, Dillard C. Laughlin, Sr., her daughter, Beth Laughlin of Waynesboro, VA; and three sons: Dillard Laughlin, Jr. (Jeanne) of Waynesboro and Richmond, VA, David Laughlin (Charlotte) of Vienna, VA, and Andrew Laughlin (LeAnne) of Charlotte, NC. "Queenie" found especially great joy in her six grandchildren: Dillard III (Trey), Elizabeth (Liza) and Thomas Laughlin of Richmond, VA, Will Laughlin of Vienna, VA, and John and Sam Laughlin of Charlotte, NC.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Laughlin was preceded in death by her brother, William Walter Thompson, Jr.
