Jared William Mayo

Jared was born on April 23, 1982, in Waynesboro, Virginia to John Milton Mayo, Jr and Patricia Doyle Mayo.

Jared grew up in Waynesboro and was a regular fixture in neighborhood shenanigans on Stuart Street, where he made many lifelong friends. A lover of hip-hop and comedy, he was happiest when spending time with his partner Cathy and their cats Jordan and Felix. He will be remembered for his kind heart, gentle spirit and the ability to find humor, hope, and goodness even in difficult times.

Jared was preceded in death by his father, John “Johnny” Mayo. He is survived by his mother, Patricia “Patty” Mayo, partner Cathy Rowe, brother Patrick Critzer, sisters Ashley Critzer and Courtney Mayo, nieces Addriana “Addy” Campbell Marsh and Kenzie White, nephews Lucas Critzer, Oscar White, and Miles White, and his beloved cats Jordan and Felix.

The family welcomes friends and family to a Celebration of Life on July 14th, 2026, from 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM at The Faded Poppy (1461 E. Main Street, Waynesboro).
